The scale in the software of the FR-1012B IR Preeheater is set to go up to 280C.  If the temperature of the T/C exceeds the top end of the scale for the T/C temperature display, it will show '999' indicating you are off the scale.  This is by design and not an indication of any problem with the unit.

This applies only to the FR-1012B.
