What is the maximum temperature for the MATCHLESS soldering irons?

Chris Stuber
MATCHLESS

The MATCHLESS soldering irons use a wire-wound heating element and there is no built-in temperature control. Observed measurements show the following:

  • Model 551 - 150W heater with CA12.7 tip had a measured max temperature of 580°C after 18 minutes.
  • Model 557 - 200W heater with CA16 tip had a measured max temperature of 570°C after 19 minutes.

These are observed measurements and not to be considered factory specifications.

NOTE:  Input voltage will directly affect tip temperature. The higher the voltage the higher the temperature. Nominal line voltage in North America is 120VAC but you outlet may vary from as low as 108VAC to as high as 132VAC, depending on your location and electrical system.
