Why does my soldering iron not sit properly in its holder?

Chris Stuber
FX-888

The receptacle of the FH-800 holder is specifically designed to fit the ribbed nipple on the soldering iron used on the FX-888, FX-888D, and FX-888DX. This holds the soldering iron at the correct angle and keeps the hot tip pointed downward into the open space at the back of the holder. Over time, the grey grip on the soldering iron may move forward after repeated use. When the grip moves forward, it interferes with the receptacle and does not allow the ribbed nipple to seat fully to securely hold the soldering iron. As a result, the soldering iron will sit lower in the holder and the tip may come close or even contact the edge at the back of the holder.

If the grip has moved forward, simply slide the grip back to its original position, and the iron will now seat properly and securely in the holder.
