When the G4 blades are installed the FT-8004 typically has an opening of about 10mm between the blade edges. If you are attempting to score and strip a larger diameter wire, it is possible to pull the blades apart to increase the opening. It is important to do this slowly to minimize damage to the metal frame or the welding points. The blades can be pulled apart to about 25mm maximum. If the blades are pulled apart any further than 25mm, the metal frame is likely to bend permanently and this will lead to issues with the blade alignment when they are closed, which is critical when using G4-1602 or G4-1603 blade sets.
