No, your HAKKO FX-601 Soldering Iron comes with a new tip. Each FX-601 undergoes a temperature inspection at the factory. This inspection heats the tip to check the temperature and adjust it if necessary and afterwards, the tip is re-tinned with solder, and then any flux residue is removed with isopropyl alcohol after the tip cools. This manual process can cause the tinned solder coating on the tip to look irregular as shown in the example image below.
This does not have any effect on the performance or service life of the soldering iron or tip.
