California Proposition 65 Declaration

American Hakko Product, Inc. is committed to the safety and quality of all HAKKO and CHP brand products and comply with applicable government laws and regulations. We have chosen to place Proposition 65 warnings on select products based on the possible presence of one or more of the listed chemicals which may be present, and likely only in trace amounts and well below the threshold for ‘no significant risk’. The level of exposure resulting from the normal use of our products may be negligible however, we wish to uphold Californian consumer’s rights to make informed decisions.

Starting 2023 and as a result of extensive testing, many of the products that were originally labeled were confirmed to have no detectable traces of chemicals covered under Proposition 65 and as a result, the warning labels will be removed from packaging over time, with the exception of the following items:

  • FS100-01
  • FT700-05
  • FX650-02
  • FX650-03
  • Custom Tip IN-0005 [Untested]
  • T36 Series Tips [Untested]

Proposition 65, also known as Prop 65, is a California voter approved initiative that is otherwise known as the “Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act”. This California state law started in 1986 and was intended to protect California citizens and the State’s drinking water sources from chemicals that were known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. This law also requires companies to inform its consumers in California of exposure to these chemicals if they are knowingly and intentionally included in their products.

Prop 65 has been amended numerous times since its introduction in 1986, with the most recent revision having a significant impact on the ‘clear and reasonable warning’ requirement. Prop 65 requires the State of California to maintain a published list of chemicals that are known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. This list contains a large variety of over 900 chemicals that are naturally occurring and some synthetic, ingredients and additives found in pesticides, common household products, food, dyes, and solvents, and the list continues to grow.

Businesses must present a ‘clear and reasonable warning’ to the consumer if their product exposes the consumer to any of the listed chemicals unless that exposure is low enough to pose ‘no significant risk’. This warning allows the consumer to make an informed decision about the purchase and use of the product. It is NOT an indication that the product violates any safety standard or regulation, or that the product will inevitably cause cancer or reproductive harm.

Products manufactured before August 30, 2018 use the following Proposition 65 warning:
