Note that the operating temperature is not an established specification for the HAKKO RED (503) Soldering Iron. The information provided below is for reference only and individual results may vary.
The HAKKO RED (503) Soldering Iron uses a NiChrome wire heating element. This heating element does not have a built in temperature control and will heat until it reaches its maximum output temperature. The heater has a reference temperature value of 460°C when it is energized in order to pass inspection. Input voltage can have an impact on the heat generated by the heating element and it has been observed that the typical operating temperature at 120V was measured at approximately 485°C.
