Why do the LED lights on by FR-1418 BGA Rework System flicker/blink?

Chris Stuber
FR-1418

The intensity of the LED lighting used on the Hakko FR-1418 BGA Rework System is controlled with a volume control in the circuit.  At select positions there may be a slight flicker that may or may not be noticeable.  This is normal and will not affect the operation or accuracy of the system.

If the flicker appears to be longer in duration and appears to be the result of an entire row of LED lights turning off for a short interval, the issue may be a faulty LED component.  The LED lighting boards consist of 3 rows of LED lights where each of the three rows are in series.  If there is an intermittent LED in the row, the entire row may flicker and will be more noticeable.

If you experience a flicker cause by the intermittent failure of a row of LED lights, or if a row is permanently out, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-88-HAKKO (42556) with the serial number of your unit for service.
